The Shattered Dreams

The Shattered Dreams

The story

The Shattered Dreams gigged and recorded in the early eighties. They released a three-track ep on the Epigram Records label, now fetching good money on ebay.

Based in London, the band line up was - l to r:
Bass – David Ezekiel;
Lead Vocals – Grant Wright;
Drums – Kevin Davis;
Lead Guitar – Matthew Moore.

This track is the first recorded version of the song later recorded by Of the Heart. The song reflects Grant's fascination with New York comparing it with his adopted city.

Those Eyes was a very early song written for The Shattered Dreams.

Grant feels in retrospect, that the piece was possibly subliminally inspired by the works of Don Van Vliet aka Captain Beefheart.

Death be Damned was written and sung by Grant Wright; performed by The Shattered Dreams and is about Man’s, possibly unique situation, of having to live with an awareness of the inevitability of ultimate death.

In this very early piece, Grant wrote the lyrics, melody line and presented the broad instrument lines to David and Matthew and Grant notes Kevin’s characterful percussion and thanks Kevin for his early stage transposition of musical phrases.
